Mystique was purchased by its current owner in 2008 and has logged ~40,000 mostly offshore miles in the last 13 years. She has cruised from San Francisco to NYC, completed two Atlantic crossings (westward single handed), numerous trips US east coast Maine to Florida. Three winters based in Florida with numerous trips to the Bahamas.
The vessel has been maintained to an offshore ready condition throughout the 13 years of ownership. Shortly after the boat was purchase a 6 month $250,000 refit was completed which included most significantly a new mast and rig design with a 62 foot mast height allowing passage under the 65ft fixed bridges and improving the sailing and handling qualities of the vessel. The refits performed to improve and maintain the vessel include the following: In 2012 the bottom was stripped, inspected, and epoxy barrier coated and electronics, SSB, solar panels, were added in preparation for an Atlantic crossing to Portugal and into the Med. While in the Med in preparation for the return single handed transatlantic back to the US the boat was hauled, the rig removed for inspection, the keel was removed for inspection, (as the vessel had collided with a whale mid Atlantic). The keel was simply rebedded and reinstalled as no damage was found. During this refit the rudder was removed and an improved top rudder bearing was installed. The turning blocks for the cable steering were rebushed, and the Max prop was sent to the manufacturer to be rebuild. This refit was preformed by Costa Blanca Yacht services in Torrevieja Spain. Mystique was then singlehanded to Puerto Rico with stops in Gibraltar and the Canary Islands. The 3200nm passage Canaries to Puerto Rico took 17 days. In 2014 the boat was hit by lightning in Atlantic Highlands New Jersey which resulted in a 2nd new electronics package on a new NEMA 2000 backbone. Also new inverter, SSB and autopilot. This $53000 repair was performed by Midshore Electronics in Cambridge MD. In 2017 Mystique was hauled out for Hurricane season and during this period a major service was performed on the engine, the prop was rebuilt and the dodger replaced. In 2018 steering cables, shrouds and mainsail were replaced. Also a new Mack Pack sailcover was added. In 2019 11 new portlights were installed. In 2020 transmission was rebuilt, a new freezer compressor installed and new batteries were installed.
Mystique is easily shorthanded with the majority of the miles sailed in the last 13 years double or single handed by the current owner. An inspection of the vessel will surprise with how ready this boat is to travel long distances.
The boat is currently docked at Mid Shore Electronics in Cambridge MD..
